Breckenridge to crack down on Gaper Day

Breckenridge police officers will be out in "full force" on April 1, and authorities say there will be no tolerance for illegal or disrespectful behavior on the occasion widely known as "Gaper Day."

In a statement released Wednesday, officials said the day is not an excuse for disrespectful or abusive behavior or offensive language or dress.

Authorities noted that bringing alcohol, marijuana or other drugs onto ski area property is illegal.

Individuals asked to hand over their ski passes on April 1 due to their actions will be subject to loss of skiing privileges, according to the statement.

Questions regarding skiing on April 1 should be directed to the Breckenridge Police Department at (970) 453-2941 or Breckenridge Ski Area at (970) 453-5000.
