The 2013 Seedling Trees for Conservation program is wrapping up today. Seedlings grown at the Colorado State Forest Service Nursery in Fort Collins are available to Summit County property owners through the Colorado State University Extension office in Frisco. Orders for seedlings must be received by the office today. Seedlings will be delivered to Frisco for pick-up on May 1 and 2. The Alpine Earth Center in Silverthorne is screening "Dirt! The Movie" at 4 p.m. on April 14 and 6 p.m. on April 17. Presenters for this movie will be Sherie Sobke, from Alpine Earth Center, and Jen Santry, from High Country Conservation Center. Upcoming movies: "Dirt! The Movie," "The Greater Good," "Catching Babies," "Genetic Roulette," "Thrive," "Beautiful Truth," "Cats of Mirikitani" and "Law of Similars." The fee is $5.

Learn how to buy a house from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 in the Buffalo Mountain Room at the County Commons in Frisco. You will learn the basics, from A to Z, of what it takes to purchase a home. The class is free and is sponsored by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, and put on by the Summit Combined Housing Authority with help from local volunteers who will walk you through the lending process, real estate transaction, title company portion and home inspection. The Frisco Chapter of the Summit Chamber will host a After Hours Business Mixer from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on April 18 at the Hotel Frisco. (The ad in the SDN on April 10 incorrectly listed the location.) The Hotel Frisco is located on Main Street in Frisco. Cost of entry is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers and includes one free drink ticket for beer or wine, a light dinner and two raffle tickets to win a $200 circular saw donated by Lowes. Bring plenty of business cards and be prepared to meet new contacts and have some fun. Parents who would like to visit Summit County Preschool for summer and fall enrollment are invited to an enrollment open house from 10 a.m. to noon and 3-5 p.m. on April 25. Stop in during those times to visit classrooms, meet teachers and complete paperwork for enrollment. Refreshments will be provided and questions will be answered. Summit County Preschool is located at 70 W. Main St. in Frisco and can be reached by phone at (970) 668-5508 or online at www.summitcountypreschool.com.

Registration is now open for the 37th annual Salomon Run the Rockies weekend on June 8-9. Registration is available online at www.RuntheRockies.com. Current discounted prices are $50 for the half marathon and $40 for the 10K. The trail race registration is $40 for the 5K and 10K. Prices go up May 1. Day-of registration will be available for both races. Registration for the road race on June 8 is available at the Frisco Recreation Building at Third Avenue and Main Street from 6-8 a.m.

Help High Country Conservation Center honor Summit County's deserving individuals, businesses and volunteers at this year's Party for Planet being held on Earth Day, Monday, April 22. The Green Scene Awards are a great way to recognize someone you know who has been an environmental inspiration to you and others. Celebrate Earth Day this year with the High Country Conservation Center at their Party for the Planet at Pug's on Monday, April 22. Join them from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pug Ryan's Brewery in Dillon for live music, good food, and drinks! Entry is $10 and you receive appetizers and two beers. All proceeds benefit High Country Conservation Center's new Summit Community Garden Network supporting five community gardens across Summit County.
