Sunlight streamed through the windows of a vacant storefront in the Outlets at Silverthorne, casting beams upon a group of children giggling as they did jumping jacks and “mermaid push-ups” to get ready for another day of Lake Dillon Theatre Company summer theater workshops.

The kids were divided into three groups, with the younger two groups each adapting a book into a play, while the oldest kids wrote original skits, said Tim O’Donnell, LDTC director of education. All three groups were learning songs with choreography, and the entire week will commence in a musical review put on for family and friends on Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m.

“All three groups will gain valuable skills in creating a play and the fundamentals of musical theater,” O’Donnell said. “Students are learning the basics of music theory, stage terms and directions, creating a character and character development and helping in gaining confidence on stage.”
