Join aconscience community at Wanderlust at Copper Mountain

Leave it to the Rocky Mountains to host a festival filled with movement and enjoyment. Wanderlust is returning for its second year to Copper Mountain Resort on the weekend of July 4, with a combination of yoga, live music, inspiring lectures and local food and wine.

“Wanderlust Colorado 2013 is bringing a highly curated mix of all the experiences a fun-loving, health conscious, adventure spirit could dream up,” said Sean Hoess, Wanderlust co-founder. “These breathtaking mountains and active Colorado culture really deserve the credit for making this Wanderlust location so special.”

Conscious community

Hoess said the summer festival prides itself on high production value for all programs and activities — a mission of bringing community together through conscious living.

“This festival brings a lot of talent together, as well as food and wine and an overall great experience,” said Stephanie Sweeney, Copper Mountain public relations coordinator. “It’s not only focused on yoga and health and wellness, but it also has all the other elements of entertainment, as well.”

This year, Wanderlust Colorado is introducing a food co-op for the first time, featuring healthy eats from the Front Range and beyond, including vegan, vegetarian, organic, raw and gluten-free options.

“The food aspect of Wanderlust Colorado is especially exciting this year,” Hoess said. “From hand-rolls to rice bowls and grilling to green drinks, we’re serving up a nutritious, local, affordable and mouth-watering menu for all attendees.”

It’s Wanderlust’s yoga lineup, however, that always seems to catch the most interest. The team of today’s top yoga teachers includes Sean Corn, Shiva Rea, Eoin Finn, Gurmukh Kaur and Kerri Kelly, not to mention the entertainment of MC Yogi and interactive AcroYoga sessions.

This year’s festival also will feature the brand-new Wanderlust Expeditions outdoor activities program, the Kula Village vending area, Wanderlust Farm to Table Dinner, Soulful Cinema, Winederlust wine tasting and Speakeasy talks — everything that ties together love of a more mindful existence.

Festival for all ages

Sweeney said Wanderlust Colorado is unique in that it offers something for the whole family. The Wanderkind Kids Program also allows kids ages 4 to 10 to come together while parents enjoy their own activities.

“Mom can go do yoga, Dad can check out a lecture, and kids can decorate an eco-float or learn how to make a hula-hoop,” she said.

Moby will be headlining the event this year with a DJ set on Saturday and an acoustic set on Sunday night, so the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Main stage musical performances also include MC Yogi, Quixotic, Blue Canyon Boys and more.

Stay for a day or for the whole weekend, but don’t miss the yoga highlights, vendors, lectures and sponsors. Bring the kids for the Village “Primp My Ride Kid Powered Parade” parade on July 4, or the Family Fun Day on July 6, not to mention the breathtaking venue, which is sure to offer memories of fun and recreation.

“Colorado really does have it all: laid-back culture, natural beauty, perfect summer weather,” Hoess said. “Not to mention all the amazing activities Copper Mountain offers, from hiking to skiing to ziplining, paddleboarding and bumper boats.”

Discover the wonder

With so many events and activities that Wanderlust Colorado has to offer, you will want to venture into all of the venues to get a sense of wonder.

• Art & Performance — Wanderlust embraces art in many forms. Local artists and their work are featured at each Wanderlust location. Also, Wanderlust features top musical acts including Moby, MC Yogi and Blue Canyon Boys.

• Yoga & Meditation — Wanderlust is about enriching the mind, body and soul. The festival features an extensive lineup of yoga and meditation teachers who not only represent many yogic disciplines but also are internationally renowned.

• Winederlust — Wanderlust’s all-out celebration includes some of the best organic food and drink anywhere. One of the highlights is Winederlust. On Friday and Saturday evenings, festival-goers are invited to sample wine and beer while taking in live music. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a yoga-filled day.

• Speakeasy lectures — The festival includes a unique series of lectures all related to living a mindful life. Since 2010, the Speakeasy series has become one of the most exciting parts of Wanderlust. This year at Copper, speakers include Moby, Congressman Tim Ryan and Joe Salatin.

• Wanderlust for Kids — Wanderlust is very unique in that it is a festival with activities for everyone, including the youngest in the family. A free family festival-within-a-festival will take place on July 6, and will include a “Primp My Ride Kid Powered Parade,” hula-hoop making workshops, face painting and much more. Plus, all of Copper’s regular summer activities such as mini-golf, bumper boats and the climbing wall will be operating and available to Wanderlust festival-goers for 20 percent off.
