Breckenridge Creative Arts welcomes folk-rocker Martin Sexton and his Mix Tape Tour to the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge on Thursday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m.

Haunting and masterful, Sexton is one of the most talked-about arrivals on the “new folk” acoustic music scene. The guitarist, singer and songwriter has an amazing vocal range and makes effective use of it on his recordings and in his live shows. Unlike so many other contemporary singer-songwriters, his vocal style can be described as truly soulful, combining the best qualities of singers such as Van Morrison, Al Green, Aaron Neville and Otis Redding.

“The real thing, people, a star with potential to permanently affect the musical landscape and keep us entertained for years to come,” writes Billboard.

Sexton’s new album, “Mix Tape of the Open Road,” is that musical cross-country trip, blazing through all territories of style, as you cruise through time and place. This record is a charm bracelet of 12 gems all strung together with the golden thread of what Rolling Stone calls his “soul-marinated voice.” Sexton will perform tunes from “Mix Tape,” as well as other favorite classics on this tour.

The Breckenridge engagement of Martin Sexton is part of a new performing arts series titled BCA Presents, a program of year-round concerts, lectures and special events presented and hosted by Breckenridge Creative Arts.
