Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10

The Snake River Saloon in Keystone hosts the Bandits for a two-night run on Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10. Bandits are a red-hot bowling ball, shot out of a homemade cannon into the side panel of mid-’80s Ford Bronco. Led by the unmatched chemistry of brother/sister John and Lulu Demitro, and driven by the eruptive drumming of Andrew Oakley, Bandits have, “managed to enter a higher society of artistry by discharging a brand unlike any others in the provincial industry.” Straddling the line between psychedelic and downright explosive, Bandits find themselves drawing in dazed listeners to a focal point of sound, just before pushing back with enough power and energy to knock the asbestos out of the ceiling of your town’s grimy rock club. Doors open at 4 p.m., music starts at 9:30 p.m. Call (970) 468-2788.

Nth Power and Dopapod rock The Barkley Ballroom

The Barkley Ballroom hosts Dopapod with special guests Nth Power on Thursday, Oct. 15. The Boston-born, now generally Northeast-based, but ever on-the-go Dopapod has come a long way from their college basement, DIY party roots. While maintaining to be as grassroots as their humble beginnings, the group has earned praise from taste-making critics like The Huffington Post, Jambase, Relix and The Boston Herald — all the while tending to their ever expanding community of devoted listeners. The past four years have individually held the weight of about 150 shows and included numerous festival appearances like Wakarusa, Summer Camp, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Peach Fest, & Gathering Of the Vibes. All of this time on stage together has given the band the opportunity to explore the wide variety of influences that has impacted them to be the players they are today. But, don’t be quick to think that the no-holds barred openness to experimenting is unguided. While the brush in their hand uses every color, it’s the stroke on the canvas that gives Dopapod a distinct voice in the way of crafty songwriting.

Proving that soul music can be exponentially greater than the sum of its parts, The Nth Power will inspire you to dance, groove, make love or just stand there with goose bumps. The quintet hails from diverse musical backgrounds, races and creeds. Female powerhouse Nikki Glaspie was Beyoncé’s world-touring drummer for five years before she joined Ivan Neville’s New Orleans funk outfit, Dumpstaphunk. bassist Nate Edgar of Groovechild and John Brown’s Body perfectly compliments singer and guitarist Nick Cassarino who came from the Jennifer Hartswick Band and toured with Big Daddy Kane. Next add West African master-percussionist, Weedie Braimah to the mix with his insurmountable world beat rhythms. Finally, rounding off the ensemble is the newest and youngest member, Courtney J’Mell Smith who brings his soulful vocals and keyboard abilities to the table. Show is $15, doors open at 8 p.m.

A Shadow of Jaguar in Keystone

A Shadow of Jaguar is a rock and roll duo from Boulder. Formed in early 2015, the two share a common foundation of rock, blues and soul. The band immediately hit the ground running. Within weeks, the pair had begun writing and recording original material while rocking audiences at shows throughout the country. ASOJ’s first single, “Mama Needs the Bottle,” was recorded in the spring of 2015 and set for an early fall release. Along with the single, a music video was filmed during the band’s debut in New York City, with an anticipated release late in 2015. The duo is fronted by Brian Hubbert, known as the soulful lead singer of one of Colorado’s most exciting and prominent acts, Cold River City. In A Shadow of Jaguar, Hubbert’s homemade slide guitar fills their sound with a monstrous tone. His playing is dripping with blues and exploding in flurries of energy. Drummer Andrew Oakley provides the backbone for the duo. After making a name for himself in the successful Boulder rock outfit, West Water Outlaws, Oakley went searching for a new musical identity. This was quickly found in the form of the stripped down, raw, energetic sound of ASOJ. His high-energy drumming gives the band a heavy rock edge and a deep groove. Together, the chemistry between Hubbert and Oakley is undeniable. Their sets are a combination of original songs and improvisation, making every show unique. A Shadow of Jaguar is gaining a reputation as an energetic live band, leaving it all on the stage night after night. Doors open at 4 p.m., music starts at 9:30 p.m. Call (970) 468-2788.
