Weekday music in Breckenridge, Frisco
Moose will host an evening of open mic antics and live entertainment at the MotherLoaded Tavern in Breckenridge on Monday, April 7. Musicians from near and far will get together to rock the house with fresh, new music. Grab your guitar, drum or whatever rocks your world and show Breckenridge what you’ve got. The Barkley Ballroom will welcome the Sweetwater String Band on Wednesday, April 9. Sweetwater String Band is a high-energy, cello-driven bluegrass band. They deliver soulful lyrics embedded in original tunes. Formed in 2008 in the small mountain town of Mammoth Lakes, their music is inspired by the wild deserts and high mountains of eastern California. Beau Thomas signs on for Zeke’s Healing Event
On Saturday, April 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., the Frisco Adventure Park will be hosting Zeke’s Healing Event, a fundraiser and celebration for longtime local Jon “Zeke” Zdechlik and his family. Frisco singer Beau Thomas, who was recently featured on NBC’s “The Voice,” is donating his talents to this community celebration and will be performing at “Zeke’s Healing Event.” Leon Joseph Littlebird is also contributing his considerable talents and performing at this community fundraiser.
Thomas endured a rigorous audition and evaluation process on “The Voice” this winter in order to perform in front of the four-person celebrity panel. This 27-year-old, full-time musician started his career in Frisco as a bartender at Prost and, shortly thereafter, became the host of Prost’s open mic night. Thomas will bring his original twists on current popular music to the crowd at Zeke’s Healing Event.
Littlebird is a native Coloradan who has graced Summit County with his phenomenal storytelling and musicianship for years. He recently fought his own fight with cancer after once again being diagnosed with leukemia after being diagnosed with it 18 years ago. Littlebird jumped at the chance to become a part of this benefit for Zeke while the idea for a fundraiser was in its earliest stages.
Zeke has been receiving treatment for small cell carcinoma, a form of lung cancer, since fall 2013. This event is intended to bring the community together through great music, food, outdoor adventure and company to help Zeke on his journey to healing.
Tickets are $30 for adults or $20 for kids 18 and younger, which includes food, one drink ticket (alcoholic or nonalcoholic), tubing, Nordic skiing, scenic sleigh rides, snowshoeing and a silent auction. Silent auction items will include ski area season passes, gift certificates to local shops and restaurants and much more. Tap It Tuesday at Dillon Dam Brewery
The Dillon Dam Brewery will celebrate its next Tap It Tuesday on Tuesday, April 8, with a 5-gallon keg of the brewmaster’s special stash tapped at 5 p.m. This week’s beer is a wheat infused with raspberry and citrus hops.

Warming Hut celebrates second anniversary
The Warming Hut on Main Street in Breckenridge will celebrate its two-year anniversary on Sunday, April 13, starting at noon. General manager Stacey Brooks Connolly said the event would have a town-party atmosphere, with live music from Stone Fed at 3 p.m. and happy hour pricing all day long. The restaurant also will be raffling off lunches and dinners and prizes from other Breckenridge businesses.
“It’s a thank-you to the town and a thank-you to locals in a fun and relaxed atmosphere,” Brooks Connolly said. “This season has been particularly great. … We’re settling into a groove now; we have a great core staff, most of them have been with me since I opened, and we’re just trying to get through the rest of the season and then double the size of the patio this summer.”
The upgrade will allow seating for as many as 30 people on the patio at the rear of the historical home turned restaurant. The Warming Hut will also start growing its own kale and arugula this summer, as well as building its own on-site herb garden, Brooks Connolly said. The restaurant serves Colorado comfort food, she said, sourcing all of its chicken and most of its elk and bison from within the state.
“I’m also really heavy into gluten-free and veggie options now,” Brooks Connolly said. “All of the menus are coded for gluten free. I have two pastas that are rice pastas and some really good gluten-free bread. A third of the menu is naturally gluten-free.”
