Music Scene: Free music continues at Frisco barbecue

The Colorado BBQ Challenge on Main Street in Frisco will feature free live music on Saturday, June 14, from Beau Thomas from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Charlie Hunter from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Rebirth Brass Band from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. and Bonerama from 4 to 6:30 p.m. All concerts take place on the music stage at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Main Street in Frisco. Rusted Root performs first free Vail concert
The Bud Light Hot Summer Nights concert series at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail will kick off on Tuesday, June 17, with Rusted Root. With eight albums under their belt, more than 3 million records sold worldwide and countless nights on the road, Rusted Root transcends age, generations, cultures and musical styles. Their music has been featured in films such as “Ice Age,” “Twister” and “Matilda,” TV shows like “New Girl,” “Ally McBeal,” “Charmed” and “Chuck.” Hot Summer Nights shows are free to the public, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and happy hour with food and drink specials until the start of the concert at 6:30. After Jack will play a free show at The Barkley Ballroom in Frisco on Wednesday, June 18. After Jack is a musical celebration of togetherness. Named 2014 Americana Vocal Group of the Year by the Appalachian Cultural Music Association, the trio couples a modern sensibility with distinctly old-time energy to blend bluegrass, gospel and folk elements. New weekly music happy hour at Next Page
The Next Page bookstore in Frisco continues its new weekly music and happy hour on Wednesday, June 18, with music from Jobuk Johnson. Singer and guitarist Johnson draws on traditional styles of country and jazz guitar from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s. He synthesizes them into a virtuoso style in which bass, chords and melody are played simultaneously.
