First of two shows for Funky Johnson

Funky Johnson will play the Snake River Saloon in Keystone on Friday, Nov. 15. From the metropolis of Summit County comes a funk outfit with tasty vocals, virtuosic guitar grooves, solid bass and tight drum beats. The band plays originals and covers ranging from Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire to James Brown, Aretha Franklin and the artist formerly known as Prince. Indie rock at AOB

Jack+Jill will bring its indie-alternative sound to Alma’s Only Bar on Friday, Nov. 15. “The performances you will see will take you on a musical, toe-tappin’, head banging, magical booty shaking journey of epic proportions,” said Aaron Seibert, of Jack+Jill. Seibert said the band doesn’t typically listen to any one style or genre for inspiration, “rather we enjoy the community and college stations. Snake welcomes Trout Steak Revival

Trout Steak Revival will take the stage at the Snake River Saloon on Saturday, Nov. 16. Catch Trout Steak Revival live, and you can’t help but notice the band’s gift to thrive in the moment. The band formed in 2008, sparked by jam sessions with close friends during backpacking trips and backyard parties. The sounds of fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, bass, dobro and accordion blend in TSR’s bluegrass-inspired mountain music. While each member of the band composes original tunes, the entire band adds harmonic contributions, following the bluegrass tradition and creating a unique sound. Youth project opens for Madam Sin

Madam Sin will play a free show at The Barkley Ballroom on Saturday, Nov. 16. Madam Sin is a Denver-based band that combines rock, jazz, blues and soul elements. This six-piece unit is a throwback to the Vaudeville days of soulful and accomplished musicians who collectively create complex music that is simply beautiful to the ear. Kicking off the night during happy hour and opening for Madam Sin will be the Youth Leadership in Music Project, from Fort Collins. Bluegrass Wednesdays continue in Frisco

Pickin’ in the Pines will play a free Bluegrass Wednesday show on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at The Barkley Ballroom in Frisco. Pickin’ in the Pines is an all-star cast of Colorado pickers led by guitarist and pro big mountain skier (Icelantic) Mark Morris. Expect a super rad, high-energy, fusion string band made up of old and new friends from the Front Range Colorado bluegrass scene. PBR and the Quick & Easy Boys will take the stage at three20south on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for a free show. PBR is a crazy three-piece psychedelic, rock-funk group from Richmond, Va. They have two fantastic albums out and a four-year history that’ll make your jaw drop when you consider that these boys have built from the ground up with no manager or agent. The Quick & Easy Boys, a power-trio out of Portland, Ore., create their own blend of rock ’n’ roll. Imagine the Minutemen, Band of Gypsies and the Police rolled into one. Breck venue hosts electronic twinbill

Up Until Now and ProJect Aspect take the stage at three20south in Breckenridge on Thursday, Nov. 21. Jay Murphy, of Up Until Now, comes from a collective past involved in bands with genres of reggae, world beat, rock, hip-hop, funk, electro-pop and even heavy metal. With this new project, he distills the pure essence in music that has always driven him and channels it into electronic dance music with the sole purpose of making bodies move. In 2008, Jay Jaramillo began ProJect Aspect, a new vision in a digital-electronic light. Aspect is the specifics included within the depths of sound, creating multiple layers to overall provide an unpredictable live performance meant to touch the soul.
