My legs are burning and the saddle-shaped imprint of the bike seat in my rear end is becoming more pronounced with every rotation of the pedals. I come around a corner after the toughest uphill stretch on the recpath between Breckenridge and Frisco, panting and exhausted, and am greeted with cheers and smiling faces. This is only the halfway point, and I’ve already logged about 8 miles of riding and likely an equal number of beers.
I’m not sure what I fully expected when I was invited on the inaugural Brewers Bike for Beers Summit Tour, but if my thighs were complaining, my taste buds certainly were not. The route had thus far taken the brewers of Summit, and a few tagalongs like me, from Breckenridge Brewery to Breckenridge Distillery to Broken Compass Brewery, through a short stop for delicious homebrew at Farmer’s Korner and up this hill, where we would now coast down to Backcountry Brewery and then along the Dam Road path to the Dillon Dam Brewery, Pug Ryan’s and, our final destination, Pug’s Tiki Bar on the reservoir.
But this is a story best told through smiles and hard-earned pints of beer, so read on through the photo captions to learn more about the journey.
