Today

Snake hosts Dorian Vibe

Dorian Vibe will play the Snake River Saloon in Keystone today. Dorian Vibe is an intense, dance-rock jam band. Through a strong repertoire of original songs and choice covers, the band infuses infectious dance grooves with rock roots to create a new twist on old-school jamming. Psych-blues at AOB today

Dragondeer will play a free show at Alma’s Only Bar today. Dragondeer is a psych-blues band from Denver whose singular, reverb-drenched take on old-school blues coupled with inspired improvisation (backed by some of Denver’s most accomplished musicians) has the band making fans in roots circles and indie clubs across Colorado and beyond. The band’s Eric Halborg said Dragondeer is influenced by “old blues, psychedelic improvisation, getting loose and having shows feel like a big ol’ party.” The music starts at 9:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.almasonlybar.com.

Saturday

The Caravan returns to Frisco

The Caravan of Thieves will invade The Barkley Ballroom in Frisco on Saturday. Like many families, this one started with a married couple — Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni (guitar, vocals, various percussive “instruments”) — writing and performing as a duo. In the spring of 2008, Fuzz and Carrie extended their family to include fiery violinist Ben Dean and double bass madman Brian Anderson completing their colorful vision. Since then, the four of them ran away from home and never looked back. Doors open at 8 p.m., and Ken Lee starts off the music at 8:30. Tickets are $7. Keep rocking after Wine in the Pines

The Snake River Saloon in Keystone will be rocking to the sounds of The New Classics Band after Wine in the Pines on Saturday. The New Classics Band is one of the top cover bands in Denver. This outstanding five-piece band plays your favorite ’80s and ’90s rock hits, ’70s funk and soul and classic rock ’n’ roll dance songs that keep the energy high and get the party going. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the music gets started around 9:30 p.m. For more information, call (970) 468-2788.

Sunday

Free music with Josh Rogan at the barkley

The Barkley Ballroom will host Josh Rogan for a free show Sunday. Rogan is true grit, living the love he sings. His music is rock ’n’ roll soul with a near constant message: You’ve got to dream to make it happen.

Rogan’s songwriting has a simple style where the silence is as important as the notes. The songs are about loss, longing, love and the pain and joy of being human. He sings with a compassion that says, “I understand the feeling and I’ve been there, too.” The music runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Visit www.barkleyballroom.com for more information.

Wednesday

Simple music done well in Frisco

Monocle will play a free show at The Barkley Ballroom on Wednesday. What do you get when you mix the emotive beauty of a modern songstress, the plaintive wail of old-time fiddle and a jazz-trained, acoustic rhythm section earnestly devoted to playing simple music well? The result is Monocle music, a sound that feels like a memory you can’t quite place but expands before you like a journey you’re about to take. Formed in late 2010 on the Front Range, Monocle offers a fresh and vibrant take on the acoustic music that has made Colorado one of the most noted music scenes in the country. The music starts at 9 p.m. For more information, visit www.barkleyballroom.com.
