Name of business or product: I own two specialty companies in Summit County. Our principle shop, House of Signs, is a nationally recognized and award-winning custom sign company. Our work has been featured in nearly every sign-industry publication, including prize-winning designs featured on the front covers of SignCraft, Sign Business and Sign and Digital Graphics. Our sister company, SignTech, opened last summer to offer a wider range of design and signage services to the area. Both companies share the same objective — quality design and the highest standards of craftsmanship are the cornerstones of each project that leave our shops. “Your visual image is our highest priority.”
Date business or product was launched: House of Signs was founded in 1989; SignTech was launched in the summer of 2012. Both companies are located in Frisco.
What goods do you make here in Summit County? How much do they cost? House of Signs specializes in artistic 3D signs, unique wood and steel mounting structures and custom brackets. We take great pride in offering a complete sign package, from concept and design through installation and lighting. SignTech is a graphic design studio specializing in logo and brand development, along with the design, fabrication and installation of vehicle graphics and wraps, window graphics and interior/exterior printed signage. We offer a wide range of budget options, depending on the complexity of the project and the type of specialty materials used, and can guide you through all the viable choices to work within your budget.
What’s great about making your products here? Helping many local businesses both large and small stand out from their competition with our unique creations and seeing our work displayed all over the county is very rewarding. Our work is also noticed by the many world travelers that come to visit Summit County. We get a lot of commissions for work outside of Summit County, from coast to coast, because our work has such eye appeal and clients seek us out with lots of enthusiasm.
What’s new with your company or product? House of Signs has begun specializing in creating unique background textures and incorporating sculptural 3D carvings into our work. We just finished a project in Manitou Springs for the Stagecoach Inn, which featured two carved buffalo heads at the top of the sign. SignTech has filled a much-needed niche in Summit County with our professional logo and brand development for small businesses, as well as our sensational vehicle wraps, which are gaining a lot of popularity.
Why do you think it’s important for people in Summit County to buy locally made goods? Summit County is home to so many talented artists, crafts people, entrepreneurs and unique businesses. Buying locally is a win-win situation, and without that support, we’ll be left with big-box stores, stores that lack character, good service and unique products and are run by corporates that are normally headquartered in another state and completely out of touch with the local scene. Our two shops are conveniently located in Frisco and, therefore, are able to meet with clients face to face and offer a personal approach to your design needs that’s just not available when purchasing online or in Denver.
How can people find out more about your products? Stop into our wonderful showrooms to see an array of samples displayed all over the walls. House of Sign’s website has an extensive photo gallery, www.houseofsignsco.com. SignTech is hosting a public open house on Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event will be catered by Ember, and we’re holding a raffle giveaway for $500 in SignTech bucks. We are currently developing a website for SignTech, which will launch later this year.
