GoBreck board hires Lucy Kay as Chief Executive Officer

The newly formed GoBreck board of directors announced Monday, March 31, that it has hired Lucy Kay as CEO for GoBreck, the destination marketing organization for the town of Breckenridge.

Kay, formerly of Vail Resorts, has been involved in the Breckenridge community since 1989, when she first joined the Breckenridge Ski Resort marketing department. She was instrumental in developing the resort’s branding and marketing programs, which garnered strong national and international recognition resulting in Breckenridge Ski Resort being the most-visited ski resort in the U.S. for many years, according to a GoBreck news release.

She was part of the leadership team during several ownership changes, and has successfully directed marketing strategy for both Breckenridge and Keystone resorts.

“Lucy’s deep understanding of Breckenridge and focus on the importance of community and resort connection, along with her excellent management and leadership skills are what set her apart from a very strong group of candidates,” said Dick Sosville, president of the GoBreck board of directors, in the release.

Since leaving Vail Resorts as chief operating officer for Breckenridge Ski Resort in 2009, Kay has run a consulting business.

“In addition to her consultancy, Lucy remained dedicated to promoting Breckenridge on the world stage,” said Rob Neyland, GoBreck executive committee member, in the release. “She helped secure our position in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and served as co-chair of the Local Organizing Committee for the past three years.”

Kay sees recent GoBreck transitions as an exciting time for Breckenridge.

“The new, inclusive structure of GoBreck opens the door to so many opportunities to strengthen business on and around Main Street,” Kay said in the release. “I’m so looking forward to working with the GoBreck board, town and resort leaders, and the very capable team already in place at GoBreck.

“Our immediate goal is to further unify our business community, and identify what we want our future to look like. Then we’ll apply consistent, strategic focus on what we have to do collectively to get there.”

Kay’s hire followed an extensive executive search that elicited top-notch applicants from across the U.S., the release stated. She begins her new position with GoBreck on April 14.

“The new, inclusive structure of GoBreck opens the door to so many opportunities to strengthen business on and around Main Street,” Kay said in the release. “I’m so looking forward to working with the GoBreck board, town and resort leaders, and the very capable team already in place at GoBreck.”
