Silverthorne’s North Pond Park ice rink closed for season
Due to sunny skies and warm temperatures town of Silverthorne officials announced Thursday, April 3 that the North Pond Park ice rink has been closed for the season.
Despite continuing snow falls, melting snow pack and underground springs in the area have caused unpredictable ice conditions, which are making the ice unsafe for public use, according to a town news release.
Visitors turned out in record numbers this winter for private use, as well as special events, including the annual pond hockey tournament and the twilight full moon skate.
North Pond will be open for fishing, boating and swimming just as soon as the ice melts, the release stated.
