Warner: Breckenridge mayor thanks outgoing council members, welcomes new faces

I would like to publicly thank Jennifer McAtamney and Mike Dudick for their awesome service to the town of Breckenridge town council. Jen worked hard and was very successful on many issues for the town in her eight years of service. Most notably these included her work and passion for attainable childcare and housing including the very successful creation of the Timberline Learning Center. Her work on reducing the use of disposable bags was instrumental in the town of Breckenridge’s vision of protecting our environment. She also had a huge influence in grants to nonprofits and scholarships for Summit High School students. Mike worked equally hard in his four years of service and was a visionary for moving forward with the Breckenridge Arts District and the restoration of the Harris Street Building. Mike also championed the lodging tax ballot issue of 2010, which has significantly increased marketing dollars to our destination marketing organization, Go Breck. Both Jen and Mike were “team players” who helped the town of Breckenridge advance many progressive issues for the betterment of our citizens. You will both be missed!

I would like to congratulate Mark Burke, Erin Gigliello and Elisabeth Lawrence for their successful bids to serve the town of Breckenridge for the next four years. I welcome them and look forward to serving with them.

Last, I would like to thank the other candidates in this year’s municipal election for their efforts, thoughts and passion. I am sure that not being elected is disappointing, but I can assure you that I read and heard much of what was on your minds and I will keep you in mind as the town moves forward.

John Warner

Mayor, town of Breckenridge
