Dillon man arrested on child sex assault, meth distribution charges

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday, May 7, it has arrested a Dillon man on multiple charges, including possession and distribution of methamphetamine and engaging in sexual activity with juveniles.

Brook Randall Fritts, 31, was arrested Tuesday, April 29, following a monthlong investigation coordinated by the sheriff’s office, the Silverthorne Police Department, the Dillon Police Department, Summit County Probation, Summit County Social Services and the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Fritts was booked into the Summit County jail on suspicion of one count of aggravated sexual assault on a child, a Class 3 felony; a second count of aggravated sexual assault on a child, a Class 4 felony; one count of distribution of a Schedule 2 controlled substance, a Class 3 Felony; two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class 4 felony; and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, also a Class 4 felony.

Fritts also faces one count of possession of narcotic equipment or paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

According to Colorado Revised Statutes, a Class 3 felony is punishable by 4 to 12 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections and up to a $750,000 fine. A Class 4 felony is punishable by 2 to 6 years in prison and up to a $500,000 fine. A child sexual assault conviction carries an indeterminate prison sentence.

Fritts remains in custody on $150,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Summit County Court for a first-appearance hearing.

The investigation is ongoing and further details are being withheld to protect the rights of the victims, a sheriff’s office news release stated.
