Zero Waste Warriors needed for Frisco BBQ
Come to the 2014 Frisco BBQ Challenge Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14. Help keep this event a zero-waste event by educating guests of the BBQ challenge at the great Zero Waste tents about how to divert waste by composting and recycling. In exchange for your time each volunteer will receive a super cool waste warrior t-shirt and 10 hog back bucks. Easter Seals Yay! Camp! fundraiser
Easter Seals Yay! Camp! Summit is a day camp for children with disabilities between the ages of 6 and 18. Located in Frisco, this summer will be the fourth year offering outdoor recreational activities to campers and respite to their families. Easter Seals YAY! Camp! is the only camp of its kind in the area. A fundraiser to help support camperships for YAY! Camp! campers will be held on Sunday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by the Elk’s Lodge, an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet with the Elks Lodge famous bacon will be served. Come meet and mingle with some of the families the camp serves. Pre-sale tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, or $12 for adults and $5 for children at the door. The goal is to raise $1,500. FDRD seeks volunteers for Bacon Tour
Do you smell … bacon? Mmmmm, that’s right, the 4th annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour in Keystone is less than a month away. This sweet and savory event — being held on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 — also doubles as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District. FDRD has several volunteer positions and shifts to choose from. In celebration of Adopt-a-Cat Month, Summit County Animal Shelter is offering a 50 percent discount on adoption fees for cats through June 30. The shelter has dozens of cats that are in need of caring homes. There are a wide variety of ages, personalities and colors to choose from. Cats can provide excellent companionship, ward off mice and other pests and reduce stress in their human companions. They’re comfortable in smaller living spaces, such as apartments. Summit lacrosse bake sale
The Summit Stix Lacrosse Club will be selling baked goods at the Log Cabin Cafe this Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14. Partial proceeds will go towards upcoming tournament fees.
The FIRC will be running three Cooking Matters classes this summer and is looking for experienced chefs to help teach the class.
