Climb to Glory

Breckenridge, July 2 & 5

7 p.m., The Breckenridge Backstage Theatre, 121 Ridge St. At the CMC Auditorium. Following on the unprecedented success of its original play The 10th, The Backstage will screen the Warren Miller documentary about the 10th Mountain Division, Climb to Glory, to help celebrate the nation’s birthday over the Fourth of July weekend. Warren Miller’s own professional skier Chris Anthony will announce the show on July 2.

Jon Stickley Trio

Frisco, July 2

9 p.m., Barkley Ballroom, 610 Main St., free bluegrass with North Carolina's Jon Stickley Trio. Music starts at 9:30 p.m.

Guided Nature Hike

Frisco, July 2

9:30 a.m., Frisco Day Lodge, 621 Recreation Way. Hike with others and learn more about the Peninsula Recreation Area flora and fauna while enjoying spectacular scenery. Hike is easy to moderate in ability and will be 2 hours in duration. Reservations are required by calling (970) 668-2558. $10 for adults adn $5 for kids. Pets welcome on leash.

Backcountry Basics Course

Breckenridge, July 2

5:30 p.m., Beyond Backpacking Headquarters, 1760 Airport Road, Unit C. This class covers important topics related to hiking and backpacking such as safety, leave no trace principles, how to pack, gear, how to dress, weather considerations, local wildlife, and more. Students who successfully complete this course qualify to attend Adventure Club sponsored wilderness trips for 6 months following course completion provided they are active Adventure Club members.
