Millie Hamner kicks off reelection campaign in Summit County

This week, state Rep. Millie Hamner will officially launch her re-election campaign for the state House from her home county of Summit.

The kickoff includes four days of events centered on the Fourth of July. She will participate in the Breckenridge and Frisco parades, walk with volunteers in several neighborhoods and attend and host several meet-and-greets and fundraisers.

On Thursday, July 3, Hamner will put her campaign on hold to present two tributes recognizing achievement in Spanish language education at a community coffee meeting in Silverthorne.

Hamner will recognize Summit High School Spanish teacher Leslie Davison for her achievement as Colorado’s foreign language instructor of the year, and Hamner will honor Dillon Valley Elementary School for its award from the Spanish Embassy for its successful dual language program.

Hamner has already participated in several events in each of the district counties since the legislature adjourned on May 7. From now until Nov. 4, she will continue to travel around the district to meet constituents and hear their concerns about the state’s future.

Hamner has served in the House since 2010, when she was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Christine Scanlan. Re-elected in 2012, she currently represents House District 61, which includes Summit, Lake, Pitkin, North Gunnison and East Delta counties.

Before serving in the state House, she was superintendent for Summit County Schools and a teacher in Eagle County for more than two decades.
