Open Jam Night

Frisco, July 14

9 p.m., Barkley Ballroom, 610 Main St. Come showcase your talents while jamming with other Summit County and visiting musicians. Drum set, amps, piano, mics, sound engineer and more are set up for your use. You don’t have to play music to enjoy Open Jam night with great drink specials and lots of seating. No cover.

Living History Walking Tour

Breckenridge, July 14

1:30 p.m. Join an expert guide as she takes you through Breckenridge in 1900 on this living history tour and hear the gossip of the local Victorian ladies and gentlemen. Finish with tea and homemade scones in one of our fine, historic eating establishments. Cost $18 adult $10 child. Call Gail on (970) 343-9169 to make a reservation.

Iowa Hill Gold Miners’ Hike

Breckenridge, July 14

10 a.m., Iowa Hill Trailhead, Airport Road. Enjoy an easy guided hike through the historic Iowa Hill mine site, which takes you past mining artifacts and interpretive signs. Learn what life was like as a miner in the late 1800s and visit a restored miners’ boardinghouse. Weather permitting; Reservations required.

High Country Ultimate

Frisco, July 14

5 p.m., Summit High School, 16201 Highway 9. Looking to have fun, stay active, and meet some awesome people? Come play Pick-Up Ultimate frisbee. Everyone is welcome and it’s free. Bring cleats, dark and lite jerseys, water, and lots of High-5’s. (303) 548-7954.

Backcountry Basics Course

Breckenridge, July 14

5:30-8:30 p.m., Beyond Backpacking Headquarters, 1760 Airport Road, Unit C. This class covers important topics related to hiking and backpacking such as safety, leave no trace principles, how to pack, gear, how to dress, weather considerations, local wildlife, and more. Students who successfully complete this course qualify to attend Adventure Club sponsored wilderness trips for 6 months following course completion provided they are active Adventure Club members. Free for current Adventure Club members, $75 for non-members.
