Today's top five things to do in Summit County

Summit Biking

Georgetown, Aug. 18

10 a.m., Georgetown Visitor Center, 1491 Argentine Road. This week’s ride has several options, including Guanella Pass, Loveland Ski Area or Idaho Springs. Parking is available along Argentine Road and the visitor center asked not to take up all their parking. Bring a sandwich and a drink for after the ride during the social hour following the ride as well as a dish to share with your friends (a bag of potato chips does not count as a dish). The picnic will start around 12:15 p.m.

Free concert

Farmer’s Korner, Aug. 18

7 p.m., Christ Lutheran Church. The concert will feature music from ‘The Newsies,’ Mama Mia!’ and ‘Jersey Boys.’ Donations will be accepted for the Summit Choral Society.

Living History Walking Tour

Breckenridge, Aug. 18

1:30 p.m. Join an expert guide as she takes you through Breckenridge in 1900 on this living history tour and hear the gossip of the local Victorian ladies and gentlemen. Finish with tea and homemade scones in one of our fine, historic eating establishments. Cost $18 adult $10 child. Call Gail on (970) 343-9169 to make a reservation.

Iowa Hill Gold Miners’ Hike

Breckenridge, Aug. 18

10 a.m., Iowa Hill Trailhead, Airport Road. Enjoy an easy guided hike through the historic Iowa Hill mine site, which takes you past mining artifacts and interpretive signs. Learn what life was like as a miner in the late 1800s and visit a restored miners’ boardinghouse. Weather permitting; Reservations required.

Open Mic Night

Breckenridge, Aug. 18

9 p.m., MotherLoaded Tavern, 103 Main St. User friendly but furiously cookin’ Open Mic with a furry Moose. Bring your strings and come sing, dance, laugh and cry.
