Summit High Sports Wrap-up: Baseball sweeps Eagle

Summit High School spring sports hit their stride this week with the Tiger baseball team leading the way. The boys won both games in a doubleheader Saturday against Eagle Valley. Summit topped Eagle Valley 14-2 in the fist game and 21-5 in the second. Summit senior Luke Egging pitched a complete game in the first of the two. Egging, Ben Hull and Sam Hull each contributed three hits. Mitchell Gray and Rickey Seltzer added two apiece. Gray pitched a completed game in the second game of the doubleheader. Gray, Sam Hull, Brian Hessler, Egging and Thomas DeBonville each contributed three hits in the blowout win. DeBonville accounted for two triples and five RBIs. Earlier in the week, the boys also split games at Steamboat, winning 17-7 and losing 8-7. The Tigers will face Colorado Academy in their next game Monday followed by a matchup at Coal Ridge Wednesday. The team jumped to 6-3 on the year with the wins, 5-3 in-conference.

Track: The Tiger boys and girls track teams traveled to Longmont over the weekend for a 24-team invitational. The Summit girls finished 13th led by McKenna Ramsay. Ramsay finished fourth in the 800 meter in 2 minutes 22.3 seconds. The boys team finished 15th. Zach Johnson finished second in the high jump clearing 6 feet 1 inch.

Girls lacrosse: The lady Tiger lacrosse team fell to Battle Mountain in a tightly contested back-and-forth double-overtime loss Thursday. Summit lost 10-7 in the closing minutes of the second overtime. The loss dropped the team to 1-3 on the season, 0-2 in-conference.



Boys lacrosse: The boys home game against Battle Mountain Wednesday was postponed due to weather. The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 25, at 10 a.m. The Tiger boys are currently 3-3 on the year, 2-1 in-conference. They’ll travel to Englewood for a non-conference matchup Monday, March 26.

Girls soccer: The girls soccer team lost 7-0 to Eagle Valley at home Tuesday. Summit fell to 0-7-1 with the loss, 0-6-1 in-conference. They’ll travel to Glenwood Tuesday.
