Summit County live music this weekend

Policulture is a six-piece band from Boulder, Colorado, whose music strives to bridge the gap between generations and unite all under one sound. While reggae music began in Jamaica and spread across the globe, Policulture seeks to bring the music full circle with their trademarked style of “Original Mountain Reggae.” The band plays Thursday, Sept. 3, doors and free keg at 8 p.m., music at 9:30, free show at the Barkley Ballroom in Frisco.

From the metropolis of Summit County comes a funk outfit with tasty vocals, virtuosic guitar grooves, solid bass and tight drum beats. The band plays originals and covers ranging from Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire to James Brown, Aretha Franklin, the artist formerly known as Prince and The Funky Meters. GET OUTDOORS FOR SOULFUL AMERICANA



Screen Door Porch will play at the Dillon Amphitheatre on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. 605 Magazine calls the band a Wyoming-grown fusion of soulful Americana, roots-rock and country-blues akin to Stevie Nicks meets The Band, with Ryan Adams and Bonnie Raitt hanging out backstage. Part of Screen Door Porch’s MO has always been a breadth of acoustic and electric instrumentation for just four people — acoustic/electric/slide guitars, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and kazoogle reinforced by the emphatic rhythm section of fretless bassist Tom Davidson and drummer/harmony vocalist Andy Peterson. VINE STREET VIBES TAKES THE STAGE AT BARKLEY BALLROOM



Vine Street Vibes is dedicated to delivering a unique performance that pushes the boundary between electro-funk and instrumental dance jams. VSV originated in the basements and garages of Denver and has rapidly emerged into Colorado’s immersive music scene. VSV strives to create a new style of organic dance music through heavy instrumental space funk and creative incorporation of synthesizers and digital instruments. Vine Street Vibes has become a staple in the Denver music scene by playing extensively around the greater Colorado area at venues like The Bluebird Theater, The Aggie Theater, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, The 1up Colfax, The Armoury, Quixotes True Blue, 320 South, Beanstalk Music & Arts Festival, and Black Mountain Music Festival. TWO DUDES AT THE MOTHERLOADED

Two Dudes will bring the best of rock, blues, country and hip-hop to the MotherLoaded Tavern on Friday, Aug. 28. Drew and Brett claim they were born in a Himalayan monastery in the ’80s. They lived the monastic lifestyle until hearing “Van Halen I” in their tweens, when they then hit the road to “shred insane and blow the doors off.” There will be beer, shots, music, giggles and free bathrooms all night. QUEEN NATION PLAYS SUNSET AT THE SUMMIT CONCERT SERIES

Queen Nation’s live 90-minute production of Queen’s greatest hits preserves the image, sound and stage persona of vintage Queen. El Paso Lasso is an energetic, versatile, and loveable cover band based out of Breckenridge. Covering everything from country music to solid rock hits of the ’80s and ’90s, Stoney Live brings people to their feet and causes spontaneous dancing on the tables. LOCAL FOLK PLAYS FOR LAST BLUEGRASS WEDNESDAY SHOW OF THE SUMMER

The last Free Bluegrass Wednesday show of the summer at Barkley Ballroom in Frisco features Local Folk, a Summit County-based string band that entertains with soaring melodies and high energy. With the musicians sharing various backgrounds from orchestra to the backwoods, Local Folk plays a mixture of bluegrass, old-time, Western swing and fiddle tunes.
