Ryan Summerlin February 5, 2012
2012 will be an important year for elections at the local, state and federal levels. The purpose of these Your Vote-Your Voice articles is to provide information to the voters of Summit County on the election process. Today’s article focuses on upcoming municipal elections, along with an important reminder on address information. Primary and general elections, as well as additional registration information will appear in future articles.
The towns of Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne will hold their municipal elections on Tuesday, April 3. The last day to register to vote for these elections is Monday, March 5
> Frisco and Silverthorne will conduct their elections as mail-ballot elections. Every active voter in those towns will automatically receive a ballot in the mail at the address on record with the Summit County clerk. If you don’t receive a ballot, contact your municipal clerk.
> Blue River, Breckenridge and Dillon will conduct their elections as polling-place elections. This means ballots will be mailed to those who have signed up as mail-in voters. Those not voting by mail may vote at the polls on Election Day.
In all elections conducted by municipalities or Summit County, voters who have registered as mail-in voters – previously known as absentee voters – will be mailed a ballot to the address on record with the Summit County clerk. Please remember: State law does not allow mail ballots to be forwarded by the post office. Don’t wait until the last minute! Make sure your voter record is current.
To register to vote, verify/change your registration or become a mail-in voter, go to www.govotecolorado.com or call Summit County Elections at (970) 453-3479.
