2013 Colorado Master Gardener Training; deadline today

Colorado State University Extension in Summit County is accepting applications for the 2013 Colorado Master Gardener Training. This signature CSU Extension program provides a unique opportunity for local gardening enthusiasts to help their community while learning more about home gardening issues. The 2013 training will take place on Thursdays at the County Commons in Frisco, from Jan. 31 to April 4, with a volunteer orientation on April 11. The 10-week course offers comprehensive, research-based instruction in home-gardening topics, delivered via distance education and presented by CSU Extension specialists. Upon completion of training, master gardener trainees agree to contribute 50 hours of volunteer service toward home-gardening education. Cost: $250. A non-volunteer option is also available for $625, and is often chosen by professionals in the green industry as continuing education. Contact the CSU Extension office at (970) 668-4140 or write dan.schroder@colostate.edu for further info and to request an application form. Applications can also be downloaded at http://www.co.summit.co.us. The deadline to register is today.
