Real Life Homeowner Wildfire Experiences
We will hear directly from a homeowner who has gone through a major wildfire, lost much and published a book about the experience to help others be better prepared for similar outcomes. Award-winning author and researcher Linda Masterson tackles a subject she knows all too well in Surviving Wildfire: Get Prepared, Stay Alive, Rebuild Your Life (A Handbook for Homeowners). Masterson’s home and 72-acre tree farm burned to the ground in a Colorado wildfire in 2011, leaving her with little but her laptop and a fierce determination to get back on her feet and get on with her life. Read more about Ms. Masterson, her history, mission and goals. Masterson will talk about next steps: what individual homeowners, homeowners associations, property managers, and other stakeholders can do to better protect themselves, their animals, and their property against wildfire. What you need to be asking your insurance agents, how you can best protect yourself to help prepare for future recovery and more. August 21, 7-8:30, Location: Summit County Community Center, 3rd and Granite, Frisco, CO; Contact: Howard Hallman 719-491-1807
