Locals can give back while getting involved in their community through Frisco’s new volunteer program.
The town recently launched the program to enhance the quality of life for those who live in, work in or visit Frisco.
It’s an easy way for people to contribute their time to a variety of town events and programs in a new organized format, said Frisco human resources manager Loli Respini.
“We decided to start a volunteer program after looking at all the opportunities that we were offering that weren’t formalized,” she said. “We are excited to have a more structured and organized way to offer volunteering opportunities within the town.”
Respini said volunteerism promotes involvement in local government and enables individuals and groups to impact the health and wellness of their communities.
Frisco representatives said the new program is an easy way to get involved, gain skills and satisfy personal goals while taking part in a meaningful activity.
“We think this a great way for community members to get involved with the town, meet new people and to learn more about town operations,” Respini said.
The program includes a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, including Frisco-hosted events such as the Town Clean Up Day, Fourth of July celebrations, Mount Royal Hill Climb, Run the Rockies, Frisco Gold Rush, Frisco Duathlon, Bacon Burner, Easter Egg Hunt, Junior Sailing Olympics, Sand Castle Competition, Timberline Cruiser Regatta, Founder’s Day and Night at the Museum.
There are also opportunities within the Community Development Department and the Visitor Information Center.
Volunteers will help town departments by providing general support, and they will benefit in return, Respini said.
“It will enhance the volunteer’s knowledge and understanding about the town and its different functions. The volunteer will be also be able to connect with the community, their neighbors and their personal well-being,” she said.
