St. Anthony Summit Medical Center has welcomed a new chief medical officer (CMO) to its team — Dr. Alan Dulit, who returns to Colorado after beginning his medical career here.
The CMO provides medical staff leadership, strategic direction and overall management of physician services and medical staff administration for the hospital. Dulit will help develop operational plans for St. Anthony, and also work to build up the quality of care and improve relationships between the hospital and its medical staff.
St. Anthony Summit CEO Paul Chodkowski said in a prepared statement he was excited to welcome Dulit to the Centura family of health care professionals.
“We are thrilled to have his expertise and medical leadership to complement our team,” he said.
The previous CMO, Jodi Chambers, started in the position in February 2005.
Dulit graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1995, completing his residency at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1999. He began his medical practice with Summit OB/GYN at High Country Healthcare in Frisco in 1999, and practiced there until 2007.
He then worked in Virginia and transferred to St Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City in 2010. That year, he was appointed to be a Regional Medical Director for the OB Hospitalist Group, a national provider of obstetric hospitalist services. He later became the Vice President of Medical Affairs for the group, until he resigned the position in December 2013 to return to Summit County.
Dulit always maintained his home in Summit County, and “is glad to be returning as a full-time resident,” he said in the St. Anthony announcement about his hire.
He has also been a member of the Colorado OB/GYN Society since 1995. He is a current member and a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also a part of the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists, and the American College of Physician Executives.
Through the American College of Physician Executives, Dulit has also worked on extensive training in physician leadership, clinical integration, physician engagement and conflict and disruptive behavior resolution.
“Dr. Dulit’s demonstrated experience in operational leadership, medical staff administration and achieving quality results will be invaluable as we continue to build a solid foundation and position St. Anthony Summit Medical Center as a recognized leader in patient-centered care and as an outstanding employer in health care,” Chodkowski said.
