Dialogue Over Dinner Thursday
Join FIRC this Thursday for Dialogue Over Dinner. The topic is “Be Informed: Talking to your Teen about Drugs and Alcohol”, presented by Jordan Schultz, MSW Drug Free Communities Coordinator, Youth & Family Services from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Summit Middle School Cafeteria. Learn more information about trends of use in Summit County, tools and resources for parents, and how to identify and talk to teens about use. The evening is free and includes dinner and childcare. Computer class this Saturday at the Senior Center:
Seminar on Digital Photography: this will be Part 2 of our two-part seminar on the basics of digital photography (but it’s not necessary that you took Part 1 to attend). Part 2 will cover making some basic (but important) enhancements to your photos, showing them as slideshows on your computer or HDTV, providing copies to others and backing up your photos. Bring your cameras and computers to work along with us if you wish. At a pace that all can handle, we’ll demonstrate the techniques using a computer running Windows 7 along with the free photo software package Windows Photo Gallery. The seminar is scheduled for Saturday from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Senior Center in Frisco. The cost is $5 and the session is limited to 25 so please call the Senior Center to pre-register (at 970-668-2940). Walk-ins will need to be turned away if the class limit is reached on the day of the seminar.
Keystone Science School seeks volunteers
How can you make an impact at Keystone Science School? Volunteer opportunities are endless. Thursday and/or Friday help peel logs for the Tee Pees. Friday help us move boxes. Wednesday, May 29 and/or Thursday, May 30 help build floor platforms for the Tee Pees; carpentry especially floor framing experience preferred. Anytime help us with administrative tasks. Friday Night at the Museum
May is designated as Preservation Month. The Old Dillon Schoolhouse Museum will celebrate this with an open house on Friday from 5-7 p.m. All are invited to come and discover what the museum has to offer, enjoy refreshments and hear about our exciting summer events. We are located at 403 La Bonte Dr. in Dillon. The Dillon Schoolhouse Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 1-4 p.m., beginning Saturday, May 25-Aug. 31.
Open Arms Childcare & Preschool Summer Program
Open Arms Childcare and Preschool has openings for infants and preschoolers for our upcoming summer program.
