Keeping your colon healthy
The community is invited to join a free wellness seminar: “Befriend Your Colon,” on Monday, June 3, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the classroom at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center. Dr. Jeffrey Lee, with Colorado Surgical and Critical Care Associates/Summit Surgical Specialists, will speak about the anatomy of the colon, symptoms of colon cancer, colonoscopies and screening options available. Fundraiser book signing

Beth Groundwater signs copies of her new book, “Fatal Decent,” the third in her RM Outdoor Adventures mystery series starring whitewater river ranger/rafting guide Mandy Tanner. The event is a fundraiser for Gore Range Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The bookstore will donate 10 percent of the sale of each book to TU. Optimist Golf Tournament
The Summit-Lake Dillon Optimists invite you to tee it up for the youth of Summit County. Our annual Summer Solstice Golf Tournament will be held on June 24 at the Keystone Ranch Golf Club. The tournament supports all of the free programs offered by the Optimists, from basketball and volleyball to chess, oratorical and essay contests and student recognition events. Registration starts at 10 a.m. and tee time is 11. The fee is $125 per player and includes cart, driving range, a great buffet dinner and entry to our popular silent auction. Hole sponsorships are also available for $125. Help us bring out the best in your kids. Dillon public meeting
The Town of Dillon will be holding a public meeting on June 6, 2013, to discuss the master planning of Dillon Town Park. We would like to invite all Summit County residents who have ideas to share about the park’s future direction and activities. This is the first of two public forums that will be held on the topic. Refreshments and a children’s activity area will be provided. The meeting will take place at Dillon Town Hall from 5-7 p.m.
Trout Unlimited monthly meeting
“Nutz and Boltz” — a fun meeting talking about what we accomplished during the winter. We will also look at the programs and plans we will have for the summer. This is an interactive meeting. Please bring your thoughts, ideas and comments about new programs or additions to what we have started and how we can be “the best”! We need help, so bring your calendars! Memory loss support group
The next meeting of the Summit County Caregiver and Memory Loss Support Group will be Tuesday, June 4, at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center in Frisco. The topic of discussion will be “Planning a Vacation with Your Loved One.” Local caregivers are invited to a conference on June 13 in Glenwood Springs. There is no cost to attend. Please call the Summit County Senior and Community Center for details for this event from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Springs High School. Registration by May 30 is required. There is community funding available until July 1 for anyone that would like to take an online training course on caregiving for Alzheimer’s disease.
