Keeping your colon healthy: wellness seminar today
The community is invited to join a free wellness seminar: “Befriend Your Colon,” today from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the classroom at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center. Dr. Jeffrey Lee, with Colorado Surgical and Critical Care Associates/Summit Surgical Specialists, will speak about the anatomy of the colon, symptoms of colon cancer, colonoscopies and screening options available. Memory loss support group
The next meeting of the Summit County Caregiver and Memory Loss Support Group will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center in Frisco. The topic of discussion will be “Planning a Vacation with Your Loved One.” Local caregivers are invited to a conference on June 13 in Glenwood Springs. There is no cost to attend. Please call the Summit County Senior and Community Center for details for this event from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Springs High School. Registration by May 30 is required. There is community funding available until July 1 for anyone that would like to take an online training course on caregiving for Alzheimer’s disease. The cost is $35 that will be immediately refunded upon completion of the course. Interested parties can check out the course at www.Alz.org. Dillon public meeting
The Town of Dillon will be holding a public meeting on Thursday to discuss the master planning of Dillon Town Park. We would like to invite all Summit County residents who have ideas to share about the park’s future direction and activities. This is the first of two public forums that will be held on the topic. Refreshments and a children’s activity area will be provided. The meeting will take place at Dillon Town Hall from 5-7 p.m.
Trout Unlimited monthly meeting
“Nutz and Boltz” — a fun meeting talking about what we accomplished during the winter. We will also look at the programs and plans we will have for the summer. This is an interactive meeting. Please bring your thoughts, ideas and comments about new programs or additions to what we have started and how we can be “the best”! We need help, so bring your calendars! National Running Day fun run
Come celebrate National Running Day and start your summer on the right foot! This is a great opportunity to jump-start the Summit Trail Running Series or just to go out and enjoy the outdoors. Light refreshments will be provided for all participants. There will be no timing or prizes for this event. Adult 5K is dependent upon trail conditions. 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Breckenridge Rec Center. Free. Ages 5 and up.
Health equity seminar
The Care Clinic and the Colorado Trust are hosting a free “lunch and learn” to discuss health equity in Summit County and throughout the state. Access to health care is not equal for everyone — join us to discuss causes and solutions. Lunch will be provided.
