World’s Largest Swimming Lesson
Sends the message that swimming lessons save lives. On Tuesday, June 18, tens of thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world will unite for the fourth year in a row to set a new Guinness World Record. The global record attempt for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL) will take place at 9 a.m. Mountain Time. Team WLSL holds the current Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson, which stands at 24,873 participants representing 15 countries across five continents! Drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-5, and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14. Research shows participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children ages 1-4, yet many kids do not receive swimming or water safety training. Silverthorne and Breckenridge recreation centers will serve as official host facilities for the 2013 WLSL event. Parents are invited to learn more about this phenomenal event by visiting WLSL.org.

Dog wash at Frisco Animal Hospital
Drop your dog off to be washed by our staff! Today, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donation appreciated ($10 minimum to cover supply costs). Fundraiser to help with medical expenses for Myra. Myra is a sweet 6-year-old pitbull/American bulldog who recently underwent extensive spinal cord and neck surgery for a herniated neck disc. Myra started showing signs about three months ago, and after little improvement she was taken to a specialty hospital in Denver for an MRI. The MRI revealed a very significant disc herniation in her neck that was causing spinal cord compression. Surgery was her only option for treatment. Myra is a few weeks out of surgery and is doing great on her road to recovery! All donations from the dog wash at Frisco Animal Hospital will help to offset the medical costs of Myra’s MRI and surgery!
