Get the music in you

Kids are in for a special treat at the South Branch Library! Next week, we have a musical celebration with the theme “I’ve Got the Music in Me!” for our Summer Reading Program. On Tuesday at 11 a.m., local musician Randall McKinnon will be performing his fresh blend of folk, country and rock music for the kids. And on Wednesday at 11 a.m., we will enjoy a visit from several of the visiting National Repertory Orchestra members. Estate planning seminar

A program discussing wills and trusts in estate planning will be presented by estate planning attorney Stewart Fleisher at the Summit County Senior Center on Thursday at 2 p.m. Topics will include how to protect a special-needs child, a spendthrift child and a child in a bad marriage. This 90-minute program will include time for questions and answers. There is no charge, but reservations are requested, (303) 488-9888, as space is limited.

Women of Watercolor

Women of Watercolor (WOW!) will have its summer organizational meeting on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Silverthorne Library. Interested women who are beginners, or who dabble or who seriously paint using water media, are invited to belong to this fun, dynamic, supportive group of women who paint together weekly on Tuesdays and show together several times a year. Check it out and prepare to be WOWed! Membership is $25 for the calendar year and includes many opportunities and benefits. Questions and/or RSVP: Kevin (970) 468-9076.

‘What’s Up With Our Forests?’

Join Colorado State University Extension and Friends of the Dillon Ranger District to explore the dynamic forests of Summit County. This 10-part “What’s Up With Our Forests?” workshop series takes place at different trailheads throughout Summit County, offering participants guided hikes focused on current forest issues. Hikes are free and all are welcome to attend, Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to noon. Help at Francie’s Cabin

Summit Huts Association is looking for volunteers to help at Francie’s Cabin Saturday. The work will be getting the hut ready for the summer season — cleaning up inside and out. Saturday overnight stay at the hut is optional; please sign up in advance. Everyone will meet at the trailhead at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Volunteers receive a voucher good for one free night in the hutmaster’s quarters for each day volunteered. For more information or to sign up please contact Summit Huts, summithuts@colorado.net.
