Annie Meyer's body found near Park County cabin after 5 months missing

The body of Leann "Annie" Meyer, a Wheat Ridge woman who was missing for five months, was found Thursday evening near a cabin in Park County, family and friends confirmed to The Denver Post.

"It's bittersweet," said longtime friend Rhonnie McCauley. "There is now closure for friends and family, but it is just so sad."

Wheat Ridge police have announced a Tuesday news conference to discuss details of the investigation. The Park County sheriff is characterizing the investigation as a homicide probe.

Meyer's family called friends Monday to make sure they were aware of the news, McCauley said. Family members are traveling to Colorado. "There will be something to honor her," McCauley said.

Meyer, 51, was last heard from Feb. 10 during a phone conversation with her mother. Authorities searched Meyer's home multiple times after she was reported missing by her coworkers on Feb. 27, but found no signs of foul play, police said.

A news conference is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Click back for updates. To read this article in its entirety, go to http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_23620927/annie-meyers-body-found-bailey
