Special to the Daily/CBST AdventuresThis year Breckenridge Bike Week added a new Super D race and human-powered Bike Bus to an already jam-packed, diverse cycling event.

The fourth annual Breck Bike Week kicked off Thursday and runs through Sunday, dedicated to promoting local bicycling culture with some exciting new additions including an inaugural Super D race as well as some favorite events from past years.

The week is full of daily free activities, which happen at the same times every day, and then each day holds something new to experience, which is also free. Take a look at what Breck Bike Week has in store for Summit County’s riders, whether you’re a beginner, expert, parent and kid combo, roadie, mountain biker or commuter.

Start out the morning with a Tour de France viewing from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Expo site, Blue River Plaza. After the viewing, see what is new in the bike industry with daily bike demos from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. also at the Expo site. Trek, BH and Pivot will all have testers to show off during the weekend.

New to the daily schedule this year is the Breckenridge Bike Bus Rides. From 11 a.m. to noon, hop on the custom 12-seater bike for a ride through town. The human-powered bike holds 16 people: 10 pedalers, five freeloaders who sit in the non-pedaling seats and a biketender/server who stands in the center.

Breck Bike Week is also offering Gear-Up Tech Classes from noon-1 p.m. every day. Meet at the Expo site for maintenance clinics and tech tips from local mechanics.

In addition to the daily offerings, Breck Bike Week days are packed with one-time events to catch throughout the weekend.
