The sure sign ski season has arrived is the renewed parking fees and restriction enforcement across the town of Breckenridge.

Breckenridge Ski Resort announced it will hike fees to $12 for weekend peak-day parking in the gondola lots, a $2 increase from last year. The resort will continue to charge $5 to park in the downtown lots on weekdays (Monday through Thursday) and the carpool discount, $5 off the total cost of parking for cars with four or more passengers, will remain in place this winter as well.

“This is the first time we have changed parking prices since the 2008/09 season and that year we actually lowered prices,” BSR spokeswoman Kristen Petitt Stewart said. “Pricing is a supply and demand situation, and while we are trying to manage parking demand with this pricing on our peak days, we are committed to holding prices mid-week and still offering carpool incentive discounts daily.”

Parking in the Beaver Run lots will be $15 daily and $20 on peak days this winter.

Parking costs $3 per hour in all town-owned lots, with a maximum rate of $15 per day in the Sawmill and Wellington lots and $12 per day in the Tiger Dredge and F-Lot, according to a Breckenridge statement.

Breckenridge Police Department offers parking permits for employees and residents in certain areas. There are a limited number of employee parking permits available for the staff members of businesses outside the parking district.
