Breckenridge: Wine & world cuisine at Blue River Bistro Wednesday
October 21, 2012
On Wednesday, chef Brandon Farr of the Blue River Bistro in Breck presents a four-course dinner of world cuisine paired with specialty wines. Guests will enjoy a gustatory trip around the globe while contributing to programs of the National Repertory Orchestra. “One varietal can take on drastically different characteristics based on the appellation,” said bistro owner Jay Beckerman, who said that Farr will pair pinot noirs from New Zealand, California, France and Argentina with authentic regional dishes from each area to “demonstrate the versatility of the grape throughout the dining experience.”The event is a fundraiser for the National Repertory Orchestra’s programs, the hallmark of which is the annual summer-long orchestral training program for 89 fellowship applicants, ages 18-28. Each summer, a new contingent of handpicked young musicians comes together in Breckenridge to play a full repertoire. Now in its 53rd year, the NRO has graduated more than 4,400 alumni, who can be found in virtually every orchestra in North America, helping to fulfill the organization’s goal of “nurturing the future of music.” “We deeply appreciate Jay’s continued dedication and generosity to the orchestra,” NRO development director Julie Chandler said. “Events such as this help us to provide the community with an amazing summer music festival and year-round enriching cultural experiences.” “Last time the Blue River Bistro did a dinner for the NRO, it was one of the best meals I have ever had in Breckenridge, and I expect this dinner to be the same,” said CEO Doug Adams.Tickets to the world cuisine wine dinner are $75 per person and the price includes a four-course wine- pairing dinner, tax and gratuity. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, call the NRO at (970) 453-5825 or visit http://www.nromusic.com.
