Dillon: Public invited to comment on 2013 budget at council meeting tonight

The Dillon Town Council will hold its first November meeting tonight. The 2013 budget will be presented, with opportunity for public comment. The Dillon Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) board will also be taking comments regarding the DURA budget.

The council will also give the first reading of one amendment and two ordinance considerations. The amendment concerns signage regarding a planned unit development at the Dillon Ridge Marketplace.

The first ordinance involves the repealing and replacing of the ‘Fees’ chapter of the Dillon municipal code. This is done every year, and will influence planning and zoning fees, water fees, marina fees and farmers market fees.

The second ordinance concerns a franchise with the Public Service Company of Colorado for the use of the town streets in distribution of gas and electricity to the town. The previous 25-year agreement is ending, and the town is planning to potentially renew a modified version of the agreement for another 20 years.

The purpose of the first readings is to move the ordinances to a public second hearing, which will be Nov. 22.

As the town hall will be in use as a voting center tonight, the town council meeting will be held at the Dillon Community Church. A work session begins at 4 p.m., the DURA meeting begins at 6, and the council meeting will come into session immediately following, around 6:15.
