RIFLE – Firefighters are hoping to contain a wildfire north of Rifle that has threatened a home and some radio towers.
More than 75 firefighters are expected to be on the fire lines on Thursday.
Colorado River Fire Rescue Chief Mike Morgan says no evacuations had been ordered as of Wednesday afternoon.
The fire grew to about 500 acres in 20 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph, temporarily closing part of Colorado Highway 13.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but Morgan says it is likely human caused.
Three water tenders, eight engines, a helicopter, two single-engine air tankers, and an air attack plane were on the scene, with more resources ordered.
