Get involved with Friends of the Dillon Ranger District

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) is getting ready to kick off the 2013 volunteer season. FDRD works in partnership with the Dillon Ranger District to inspire stewardship of our local White River National Forest. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are currently looking for committed and passionate volunteers to join the Forest Stewards Program in any one of the following initiatives:

Ranger Patroller — Hike your favorite trails in a Forest Service volunteer uniform to educate trail users. (Applications due by May 17: Training date scheduled for June 1.)

Crew Leader — Gain new skills and lead groups during trail and service projects. (Applications due by May 17: Training date scheduled for June 22.)

Get involved today and join FDRD’s 2013 season! For more information or to apply please contact Sarah Slaton, Program Manager, at (970) 262-3449 or sslaton@fdrd.org.

All approved applicants are required to attend FDRD’s mandatory training sessions. If you can’t commit as a Forest Steward, but still want to get out and help, be sure to check FDRD’s online calendar this summer at http://www.fdrd.org and register for one of their ongoing projects.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.
