If you started, but didn’t finish, applying for health insurance through the state marketplace before the deadline, you’re in luck.

You can still complete your application and get coverage for 2014.

“It’s that simple,” said Tamara Drangstveit, executive director of the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) in Silverthorne.

The deadline to enroll in health insurance coverage for 2014 through Connect for Health Colorado was Monday, March 31.

Through the state marketplace, residents at certain income levels can qualify and receive financial help in the form of tax credits or cost-sharing reductions (insurance plans with lower deductibles, co-payments or coinsurance).

Those who started the application but didn’t finish now have until April 15 to complete the enrollment process for coverage starting May 1.

Those waiting for a Medicaid denial (or CHP+ for children) now have until May 31 to enroll.

And those who experience certain life events, like changes to job or marital status or the birth of a child, after the deadline can qualify for special enrollment periods.

The next open enrollment period begins November 15 for coverage in 2015.
