Ian Parker and friends piano recital in Dillon Sunday

Ian Parker, 19, a Summit High grad and son of Sam and Paula Parker, will be performing a piano recital at Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Dillon Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. Parker is a student at the University of Denver. He has been playing the piano for 12 years and has attended several festivals and competitions, earning Top Performer on numerous occasions.

Parker started studying the piano in second grade with teacher Adrienne Sielaff, and subsequently in college with Alice Rybak and Heidi Leathwood. He hopes to graduate from a five-year program with degrees in music, Spanish and a master’s in education.

Parker is also a Puksta Scholar through the University of Denver’s Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CCESL). His work with CCESL includes programs aimed at the betterment of music education for all age groups and demographics. When Parker is not in school or practicing the piano, he races his bicycle for the University of Denver’s club cycling team.
