Ice climber falls at Officer’s Gulch Sunday

SUMMIT COUNTY – According to public information officer Anna DeBattiste, the Summit County Rescue Group received a 911 call Sunday for an injured ice climber in Officer’s Gulch. Two men were climbing The Shroud – a popular ice route located off Interstate 70 between Frisco and Copper Mountain – and one man fell from a height of about 40 feet.
A press release said his climbing companion called 911 at approximately 12:15 p.m. – 22 volunteer rescuers responded to the call. Team members evacuated the climber by toboggan, and then the patient was taken to a medical facility by the Summit County Ambulance Service. No more information was available as of Monday.
