Isaacson School for New Media Dedication Day in Aspen on Wednesday

On Wednesday, Colorado Mountain College will celebrate the Dedication Day of its new Isaacson School for New Media, with numerous events at the Aspen District Theatre. The Isaacson School will offer accessible, affordable education and retraining for students who want to be prepared for jobs in the evolving digital landscape.
Free events open to the public are:
> 9:30-11:30 a.m.: Dedication ceremony, featuring Walter Isaacson, Colorado Mountain College president Stan Jensen, Jim Calaway and special guests. Isaacson will give a keynote address, followed by a question-and-answer session.
> 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Reception honoring Isaacson and showcase of participating entries in the inaugural Youth Digital Media Contest.
> 12:45-1:45 p.m.: Isaacson School Future Forum – A panel discussion of the promise and future vision of the Isaacson School, featuring faculty, community partners and youth.
Aspen’s City Council has declared Wednesday “Colorado Mountain College Isaacson School for New Media Day,” in honor of the college’s role in the education and economy of Aspen and the state, as well as the Isaacson School’s mission to prepare students for digital journalism, marketing and design and media production.
The new media program will offer its first classes this fall, at the college’s locations in Aspen, Carbondale, Spring Valley and Glenwood Springs. Credit classes in the new program start the week of Aug. 27, with professional development workshops also being offered this fall.
