Jackson: Supports funding for Lake Dillon Fire Protection District

A few weeks ago, my wife suffered a serious fall in a home in Silverthorne. She came to rest some fifteen feet into a crawlspace under the home, and it was obvious that help was going to be needed to remove her from the crawlspace, and also to treat her traumatic injuries. We called for assistance, and the Summit County Communications Center dispatched the appropriate Fire Rescue, Medical, and Law Enforcement officials. All those who responded did so in a prompt and professional manner, and went about their duties in an efficient manner. I would like to publicly commend the personnel of Lake Dillon Fire Rescue Engine Company 8 (Dillon Station) and Engine Company 11 (Keystone Station) as well as the Battalion Chief who also responded. Additionally, the medical personnel from the Summit County Ambulance Service, and their on-duty supervisor, excelled in their care-giving. The complex “indoor extrication” of my wife was accomplished with extreme care, and a great deal of ingenuity. Because of the skill and training of these public safety professionals, my wife’s injuries were minimized, and she is expected to make a full recovery with some time. (The folks at St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center were wonderful, as well!)

I’ve never before sent a note to the editor of the Summit Daily. The care provided to my wife on the day of her accident certainly merits, at least, this note of sincere and grateful thanks. We truly are blessed to have such well-trained and caring folks available when an emergency arises. At this time of voting, I’m certainly going to favorably consider the need for supportive funding for the Lake Dillon Fire District. Won’t you as well?
