“Have guitar, will travel” is longtime local guitarist and singer/songwriter Josh Galvin’s motto. Just back from playing Stella’s Coffee Haus in Denver, Galvin will give his outdoor season-ending performance today at the Dillon Farmers Market. “Music, in the form of guitar playing and songwriting, has always been a passion that I kept on the back burner for many years,” said the Breckenridge-based country/folk artist, who sings cover songs like “Wildfire,” “Embryonic Journey,” “Don’t Think Twice” and “Fire & Rain” in addition to original tunes. “Some years ago my first song came … into my psyche that I entitled ‘Married to the Single Life,'” Galvin said. The song juxtaposes “a significant dose of humor” with “the boundless Zen experience of powder skiing.””Though I no longer perform that song live I like to think of it as a stepping stone to how my music has evolved. I like to think of my music as coming from the heart and reaching to the soul.”His album, “Ten Mile Ranger,” features a mellow, folksy guitar style with heartfelt lyrics, with many songs dedicated to locals. “In one of my songs, entitled ‘Breckenridge,’ I tried to embrace the feeling and spirit of the town where I live. Folks seem to really like that song. A few songs I am recording now include ‘Rocky Mountain Cowboy,’ a song about riding bulls on the rodeo circuit, and ‘Podunk Town,’ about the highs and lows of living in a small town,” Galvin said.He has performed live on air several times and sings at private functions in addition to the Dillon Farmers Market, which he plays today from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more info, see www.joshgalvin.com.
