The Summit County Libraries would like to thank everyone who helped to make our 2010 Summer Reading Program a success. Among the local companies, community members and volunteers who offered their support were the Elaine Gerson Fund of the Friends of the Library, Subway Restaurants, The Next Page Bookstore, The Summit Daily News, The Balance Sheet, Round the Mountain, Borders, Wendy’s, Smashburger, The Town of Breckenridge and the Stephen C. West Ice Arena staff, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, The Knights of Columbus, The Friends of the Library, Arrow Insurance, Stuhr & Associates LLC, Peppino’s Pizza & Subs, Village Inn, local musician Randall McKinnon, Barbara Johns, Beverly McArthur, Chris Neubecker, Donna Schultz, Amanda Spilman, Gloria Maldonado, Rhonda Gillespie, National Repertory Musicians Jordan Allen, Timothy Martin and Timothy Rowland, Farmer Ted Dreier and Moozie the Cow, Artists Gretchen Abernathy and Carla Lopez. We’d also like to thank all of our young adult volunteers – Sophie Kim and Rodolfo Ruiz (who helped at both Frisco and Breck), Lindsay Bell, Lily Weldon, Tessa Gunnin, Andrew Reynolds, Geneva and Levi Ascher, Sabrina Anderson, Yanek Carrion, Daniela Castro, Ben Cottrell, Grace Cottrell, Garrett Giles, Bryan Jasso, Duncan Koehn, Daniel Molina, Josue Razo, Brenda Reider, Tyler Shaw, Yaritza Urias, Cloe Micklich, Ruthie Boyd, Emily Carlson, Cindy Dzib, Casey and Jack Farrell, Briceycly Gonzalez, Cormic and Kellin Grindall, Sabrina Knott, Mackenzie Moran, Wynter Schumacher, Meghan Sockett, and Logan and Payton Weinman. Throughout the course of the summer, we had almost 3,000 visits from children attending either the special programs, the regular weekly programs, or both, at all three library locations – a significant increase over last year. And, with the help of our wonderful staff, volunteers and community members, children logged more than 5300 hours of summer reading! We’d also like to congratulate the winner of this year’s grand prize, an iPod Touch and portable speaker system, for participating in the Young Adult Summer Reading Program. Sabrina D’Andrea, a 7th grader from Dillon, turned in the maximum of 5 cards (40 hours read). Congratulations, Sabrina! And, finally, we’d like to thank the wonderful dogs who listened patiently to our young readers, and their owners who shared their pets with us – Brad Perry and Max, Ann Hill and Luke, Jan Shipman and Woodrow, Adrienne Sielaff and Pepper, Jo Anne Tyson and Monty, and Susan Alderman and Alma.
