Date business or product was launched: Phunkshun Wear LLC was formed approximately two years ago, in March 2011, by Lanny Goldwasser and Jacob Levy. What goods do you make here in Summit County? How much do they cost? Currently we produce 100 percent of our product line here in Silverthorne. We perform the design, dye sublimation, the cut and sew, packaging and shipping from our facility on Brian Avenue. Cost ranges from $17.99 to $34.99. The SL currently sells for $17.99
What’s great about making your products here? The ability to prototype a new mask design and immediately begin testing it at any one of the world-class resorts located in Summit County. Everyone who works at Phunkshun Wear understands the end purpose for the product, including how and why it is supposed to perform on the slopes.
What’s new with your company or product? Production for the 2013-14 season is in full swing; our distribution has expanded to shops in the Pacific Northwest, East Coast and Tahoe area, to name a few.
We are in the process of developing new products ranging from a mask made of Merino wool to a convertible Balaclava and the addition of a children and youth line.
Why do you think it’s important for people in Summit County to buy locally made goods? It is important for everyone to support each other. Summit County is a small, tight-knit community of great people, companies and products.
