Oberosler: Kathleen Curry best person for HD 61

It is time to weigh in on the negative ads coming in regarding Kathleen Curry and tell you what I feel is good about her. I feel that Kathleen Curry is the best person to elect to the Colorado State Legislation in House District 61. As a legislator Kathleen had a very respectable reputation of writing and getting legislation passed for Gunnison County and her home District 61. She, helped to get the masters program reinstated at Western State Colorado University, and this has and will continue to benefit the community and the students far into the future.

Kathleen is well known in the community for doing everything that she can to protect our water in the basin and elsewhere in western Colorado. Water is an issue that is very near and dear to her and her husband who own a ranching operation in Gunnison County. Both water quality and quantity are very important to our ranchers. Kathleen also worked with the recreational users of water in an attempt to resolve river access conflict to allow commercial boaters to continue to float through private property under certain conditions, adding to the local economy. She made an attempt to secure legislation in order to avoid a ballot initiative and to allow rafting companies to continue to operate on the historically run rivers.

Kathleen has worked to establish recreational in channel diversions as a legal water right. Kathleen and Greg have both spent countless hours working on ways to protect the Gunnison Sage Grouse, and I am sure that there will be more hours spent on this subject before we get to a solution regarding the endangered species listing of the bird. Ranching stands to lose a lot if they are listed as will recreation.

To sum it up I feel that Kathleen Curry has worked hard in the past for local and district issues therefore I feel she is the person that can best represent House District Sixty One in the state house. Her experience and guidance is needed to protect our land and water in western Colorado. Please join me in voting for Kathleen on Nov. 5.
