Wilda Jolene Kalbach, of Dillon, Colorado, passed away on her 76th birthday, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Denver. She valiantly battled stage-four lung cancer for 22 months. Her strong will to live and the love, prayers and support of family and friends carried her through the months of chemotherapy and radiation.
Wilda was born on March 9, 1940 in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Lowana (Forbes) and Albert Krenzel. She married Arthur Kalbach on Dec. 28, 1958 in Leoti, Kansas; they shared 57 wonderful years together raising four children. She treasured being a wife, mother and grandmother and loved to cook and tend to her flowers and garden. She took pleasure in recreating in the Rocky Mountains, supporting Kansas State Wildcats football, traveling the world and volunteering at the Summit County Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband, Art Kalbach; her four children: Vicki Hopper and husband, Dennis; Vince Kalbach and wife, Shari; Karen Kalbach; and Chris Kalbach and wife, Jennifer; her four granddaughters, Annie and Ellie Hopper and Morgan and Abby Kalbach; and a brother, Dwight Krenzel and wife, Faye.
A celebration of Wilda’s Life will be held at Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church, 56 Highway 6, Dillon, Colorado 80435, on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Summit County Seniors Foundation, P.O. Box 1895, Frisco, Colorado 80443 or the Lung Cancer Alliance at lungcanceralliance.org.
